{"id":28,"date":"2026-07-29T17:27:02","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T17:27:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jumelagesandlanguages.eu\/?page_id=28"},"modified":"2026-07-29T19:16:49","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T19:16:49","slug":"our-mission","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.jumelagesandlanguages.eu\/index.php\/our-mission\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Mission"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"justified-text has-custom-css wp-custom-css-993d0d71 wp-block-paragraph\">Jumelages &amp; Languages (J&amp;L) is an initiative aimed at contributing to closer Franco-Irish ties, a process bolstered by Brexit, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ie\/en\/department-of-foreign-affairs\/publications\/ireland-france-joint-plan-of-action-2021-2025\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ie\/en\/department-of-foreign-affairs\/publications\/ireland-france-joint-plan-of-action-2021-2025\/\">Ireland-France Joint Plan of Action (2021-2025)<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ireland.ie\/en\/france\/france-ireland-2026-2030-joint-strategic-framework\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ireland.ie\/en\/france\/france-ireland-2026-2030-joint-strategic-framework\/\">France-Ireland Joint Strategic Framework (2026-2030)<\/a>.<br><br>Grounded in the conviction that subsidiarity is key to promoting European values, the starting point of J&amp;L\u2019s is linguistic and cultural exchanges between French and Irish localities.<br><br>The broader objectives of J&amp;L include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>facilitating and coordinating<\/em> Franco-Irish linguistic and cultural exchanges between relevant localities on both sides of the Celtic Sea;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>fostering <\/em>the European identity of J&amp;L program participants;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>initiating <\/em>bilingualism among participants through immersion;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>developing <\/em>a Franco-Irish network capable of joint action to promote the interests of J&amp;L program participants;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>organizing <\/em>encounters, both online and in person, to advance the projects of J&amp;L program participants;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>offering <\/em>useful resources to J&amp;L program participants, including:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>thematic fact sheets<\/em> related to local Franco-Irish interests;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>articles <\/em>for learning English and French and fostering mutual cultural familiarity between French and Irish persons;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>directories <\/em>of entities relevant to the development of local Franco-Irish interests;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and <em>voluntary contributions<\/em> from J&amp;L program participants;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>promoting <\/em>program accessibility and inclusion, specifically by ensuring the participation of young people from rural areas, modest backgrounds, or demographics typically excluded from international mobility;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>seeking <\/em>capital, particularly in the form of grants, to fund the projects of J&amp;L program participants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justified-text has-custom-css wp-custom-css-feb36b93 wp-block-paragraph\">We do our best to deliver on those goals.
